Making Friends as a young professional?
Post Body

I’m 24 and moved here for work and grad school. Are there any local events or bars that someone can go to alone and make actual friends? I live in college town, and while the people there are so much fun, it’s hard to make a friend group with people who are in a different life stage. Does anyone have any advice?

UPDATE: a work colleague just told me about the “Muggle Shuffle” happening next month. Is any one in here going?

Has your grad program started yet?

I'm 32 and I've made my closest friends here through grad school. Plop yourself next to someone at orientation or in class and start a conversation. Go to your department events. Invite your classmates out for coffee or a drink. Join (or start) a study group.

I've also made some connections through joining clubs in town (running related), but those haven't become close friendships. Still super valuable to have those social groups but just a different dynamic.
