Is it normal for a therapist to get defensive?

When you text them the first time and ask them for their credentials/ education / experience?

He got defensive and wrote a long ass paragraph about how he was "here to provide therapy and didn't come to a job interview". I mean, I think I have the right to know whether or not the person I'm speaking to is qualified or not?

I instantly disengaged from him. Felt like a big red flag to me.

What do you guys think? Was he being unprofessional?

(FYI, I just asked him once, it's not like I was battering him with questions like an interview).
