i posted back to back bc i’ve been trying to post these for weeks to get it off my chest! Why anyone would feed their dogs human food is beyond me. On top of not being healthy (as far as I know) for an animals diet- you’re also teaching them to beg & do sneaky, annoying ass shit. I’ve been coexisting with my bfs dogs while we hang out, but eating with him is a chore. If I open a bag – here comes the dog. Open the fridge – here comes the dog! I’m convinced because of the dogs actions that it’s going to do sneaky shit for food. For example, it sniffs around the trash area and nudges with it paws-i’m convinced that its going to go through the trash, one night and get into something that kills it. If I leave the kitchen without giving him whatever food was in the kitchen, it will circle back into the kitchen while nobody’s in there & I have to scold it because I think it’s going to jump on the counter to get the food! The food delivery will get here and the dog starts barking like crazy & when we grab the food, the dog is sniffing the bag and jumping all over the place because it knows it going to get some..as if we ordered the meal for the dog. AFTER my bf has fed the dog the food from the restaurant that he doesn’t eat (or he’ll even order them sides of fries) it comes right to me-begging. To combat this , i’ve started turning my back to the dog whether i’m sitting (like in a rolling chair) or standing to signal that I will not give the dog food. The dog will turn with me every time so that it’s in my face (I don’t know if I properly conveyed that, but imagine that every time you turned around it was somebody scrambling to get in your peripheral). It drives me INSANE and how other people don’t go insane is beyond me! If I do this enough times, and I don’t make eye contact, the dog will eventually go away. I could drop as small as a popcorn kernel and the dog will jolt up to come beg for something. It gets under my skin so bad and I wish my bf would stop enabling it.
