BUCKLE UP, Y'ALL.
So first things first: this happened a few months ago, back in late May/early June. I wanted to make a post about it sooner, buuuut I didn't have the spoons. Now I do, so I'm telling y'all the update.
So recap: guy got pissed that his food contained egg when he wanted fully vegan food. Manager got on me for it (she did later apologize to me for the misunderstanding,) and they comped him. Okay, fair enough. I support a customer when they specifically ask for what they want, as long as they are polite and understanding. The last post was more about my manager, but this one is about the customer. Hoo boy, I was not expecting the bullshit that happened.
So he calls back about a week or two later. It's a pretty slow night. He calls, wanting to redeem the comp we gave him. I just happened to take the phone call, so I knew what he was talking about. First issue with him was he wanted us to comp him for three meals, when the receipt only said to comp two meals. He swore back and forth that we messed up three of his meals, so one of my other managers looked up the receipt for him and it only showed two meals. So he went ahead and ordered the two comp meals and an additional one.
I put the order in the system, but the customer never mentioned that he wanted it fully vegan, so I went ahead and punched it for 'No Egg' and 'No Fish Sauce' and a mod for 'Vegan sauce.' Since he got upset last time about the egg and it not being fully vegan, I figured that's what he wanted. I was wrong to assume, as you will see.
He shows up about 30 minutes later. Second issue was he was incredibly rude and jumped ahead in line in front of someone else whose order I was taking. This was how the interaction went:
Me: helping other customer
AH: "EXCUSE ME?! I AM HERE FOR MY ORDER!!" Literally forces the customer I was helping out of his way.
Me: "Okay, sir! I'll take care of you in a moment after I'm done with my guest."
AH: "MA'AM, I NEED MY FOOD NOW!"
The customer looks at me and mouths that she can wait a few so I can take care of AH.
Me: "Okay, let me go grab it for you!"
I go back to the expo area and I see that they had completed his order and I took the bag to him.
Me: "Alright, sir! Your total is $17.24!"
You know he's about to start buggin.
AH: "MA'AM, THE WHOLE MEAL IS COMPED BECAUSE YOU MESSED IT UP LAST TIME! I WILL NOT BE PAYING TODAY!"
Me: "Let me go check with the manager first. I'll be right back!"
I rush back and tell the manager what's going on, so he comes to the front to talk to AH. In that single minute, AH grabbed his bag of food and was already going through it. He becomes irate in a millisecond.
AH: "MY FOOD DOESN'T HAVE EGG IN IT!!! I WANTED EGG IN MY FOOD!!!!!"
Me: CATATONIC AS FUCK, BRAIN MALFUNCTIONING
Manager: "Did you specifically ask for egg, sir?"
AH: "YES!!! I WANTED THE EGG IN THE MEAL FOR MY KIDS!!!"
He then turns to me.
AH: "I DID ORDER THESE ITEMS WITH EGG, IF I DIDN'T WANT EGG IN THEM, I WOULD HAVE TOLD YOU! MAYBE YOU SHOULD GO BACK TO SCHOOL AND LEARN HOW TO UNDERSTAND ENGLISH!"
Me: "Thank you for your feedback, sir."
I was ready to punch him in his smarmy face. But nah, I was in the clear. My manager went back and worked on fixing the food for him. I then go back to the other customer who witnessed this whole issue and was very, very patient. But AH wasn't done.
AH: "WOMAN!!!! WOMAN!!!!" snaps his fucking fingers at me "GET YOUR MANAGER FOR ME NOW!"
I was not playing this game today. I make sure my face is as emotionless as possible.
Me: "I will go get the manager for you when I am done helping my customer."
AH: "NO, YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND!! I NEED TO SPEAK TO YOUR MANAGER NOW!!! GO GET HIM!!"
Me: "I will get him when I am done helping my customer."
This back and forth lasts a few minutes.
AH: "YOU ARE A VERY UNHELPFUL WOMAN!!"
My manager comes out and tells AH that we fixed his meals for him. What do you think happened next?
AH: "SIR, YOUR WAITRESS WAS INCREDIBLY RUDE TO ME AND I WILL NOT TOLERATE THAT KIND OF DISRESPECT. I SHOULD BE COMPED MY ENTIRE MEAL!"
Manager: "We will comp you for the first two meals. The third one you have to pay."
AH tries to say something, but he just goes quiet and sheepishly pays for the third meal. Manager doesn't tell him to have a good day or anything. No response from him.
Haven't seen him since, thank goodness.
