Who do I write a letter to?
Post Body

I work in an arena. We have very strict alcohol policies including cutoff times. Meaning when they tell us alcohol service is over at a certain time, it’s over with no exceptions. I was working a concert recently and according to the show notes alcohol service would cut off at 10:30, so that’s what we told everyone. However at 10:10 our supervisor came over and told us it would actually end at 10:15. This definitely sucks for both the guests and us, but we have absolutely no control over it. A few people came back after 10:15 and we delivered the bad news, and most of them took it on stride.

At about 10:30 on the dot a lady came to the bar and asked for a beer and we told her that the bar had already closed. She lost it. She started yelling at the bartender who let her know who was very calm and apologetic. She was adamant about knowing who told him to close, and why it was changed, etc. Our supervisor wasn’t there at the moment so she went and started complaining to an usher, which is hilarious because they have literally nothing to do with alcohol service. But this usher was also patient and let this lady yell at him until our supervisor showed up and she made a beeline to him.

Thankfully this particular supervisor was not having any of it. He told the lady in no uncertain terms that the bar was closed and that none of us had any control over it. She made him show her his employee ID so she could write it down and wanted to know “who she could write a letter to” to complain to before finally giving up and going back to her seat.

The craziest part about this is by the time she finished arguing, the artist was in the middle of his last song. She was literally missing the concert to fight about getting one last overpriced beer. She could have just waited 15 minutes and then gone to one of the dozen bars within a one block radius of the arena and gotten a beer that was half the price of what we were charging.

People are ridiculous.
