Managed to avoid a double on Labor Day
Post Body

Didn't think I was actually going to pull it off, with the way we're going. Was scheduled for a single shift, spent a good chunk of it bouncing between my tables and hanging around expo when I could (our usual expo guy doesn't work Mondays, but they talked him into coming in for the evening), and our two expo people were a j-1 and a guy that just takes food from several tickets in whatever order.

Was briefly considering working a double, then the kitchen managed to pull a 30-minute ticket time on an appetizer. Promptly noped out when the manager asked me if I wanted to stay because they needed me in the bar downstairs. To put it in perspective: I am an asshole, but I am also an asshole with a guilty conscience who management takes advantage of by having me work long, shitty shifts to no benefit to myself (like the ten hour breaker shift the night before where I made exactly no tips, because I keep none of the tables). So, it felt kind of wrong, but also extremely gratifying to be able to do that for once after being the 'team player' and getting taken advantage of.

"Are you sure you don't want to work a double?"

"Nope, got a date tonight."

"We'll buy you guys dinner!"

"And sit for forty minutes waiting on it? Nah."

"You sure? Come on, it'll be fun!"

"Noooope" on my way out of the kitchen.
