This was from a few months back when I was doing a work placement.
I was working in a 4* hotel restaurant, and usually our customers comprised of older folks and families along with the occasional tour group. Working at this hotel, I had various guesses for my ethnicity or where my accent was from. Being Chinese with a mild Yorkshire accent led to 14 different incorrect countries being guessed. Sometimes I found it funny, other times I just found it annoying when people would just go 'No, where are you really from?' if I replied England initially.
In the centre of the dining room, there's a large piano that is mainly there for aesthetics but will be played sometimes for special occasions. I was stationed to the tables beside it and a couple probably in their mid-40s were sat down. After they received their mains, I prompted them to check if everything was okay.
'Everything's lovely thanks..' She nodded to the piano. 'I bet you're pretty good at the piano right?'
'Actually I don't know how to play it at all sadly.' I tried to awkwardly laugh it off, but then she just went straight on with,
'Oh, but you must do! I mean your parents must have...' She then stopped herself, while her husband gave her an awkward glance.
I just flushed pink and replied with 'Nope, I don't play any instruments I'm afraid' and walked away.
TLDR; All Asian people play the piano because of tiger moms.
