"Ok, you're supervisor."
Post Body

The host manager gave the other lead host the day off, which wouldn't be too bad, except for this series of events:

A)The GM and AGM are both out of town this weekend, so we're down two managers.

B) We once again do not have a FOH supervisor, as he quit a couple of weekends ago.

C)The evening shift saw two managers on the floor, both of them doing expo, checking up on guests and helping on the line and all that.

So, it's looking to be like one of those shifts. The retail manager was on the floor upstairs providing extra support staff, and it's great time have that extra help, but he got tied up with the problem of the day around 3 p.m., that problem being the Girl Scout group of 35...and the Seven separate parent/younger sibling satellite reservations that all wanted to be seated with the girl scout group. Why anyone though this was ok the schedule, only the Lord knows why. So, that gets sorted, the nighttime hosts both start, and oh hey--they're both of the new girls. The third host is full-time, but not trained sufficiently to handle the Saturday rush (honestly, it took me five months to be able to do it confidently, and I had more hosts and managers to help, so it'll be awhile before he's able to do it.) The computer crashed sometime during my break, because we aren't allowed nice things, and it took about 45 minutes to pull everything up to at least 50% efficiency, at which point I'm already overdue by half an hour to go onto the floor.

I go up to one of the managers, and bring him up to speed on the situation, and finish off with saying that if I'm going to serve, they need a manager that can 100% commit to staying at the host stand, because these girls have worked here maybe a week and a half. Manager looks at me, and goes "Ok, you be their supervisor. Clock out, and clock back in as a breaker."

Well, let's see. Four hours of serving with the sketchy chance of making some cash to take home, depending on how the host stand fairs without me, or make a guaranteed $15 for the first hour, then time and a half for the next three? ($22.50) Sold, lemme change into a different button up. Actually had a pretty solid night, and they're considering having this be a reoccurring thing.

Just can't use the "I don't get paid enough to deal with this level of batshit" excuse anymore.
