when i first started at my job, i was 19 going on 20 with no experience in the food industry; i hadn’t even bussed a table.
now at 23, i have a experience as a busser, food runner, and a host, I was trainer as a server and I was about to be one before our general manager got fired. However, my current managers told me that guests complain about me about my attitude which was never brought up until I wanted to become a server and that I have to be a busser again which I said I wasn’t opposed to but I’ve done some thinking and realized the following:
I am a 23 year old who just graduated with a degree in Psychology. I recently got a job working part time in my field as a behavior technician and love it. I also applied to another restaurant job as a server and have an interview there on Monday and for another job in my career field on Thursday morning!!!
I guess I also wanted to become a server there because I’ve worked there for a long time and wanted to show that im also capable of moving up the ladder but honestly I have nothing to prove to anyone. I had to come to the realization that I would never become a server until I leave so with all the bullshit that management told me, I put in my 2 weeks because I do not need to be at a toxic place like that and it’s time to move on.
