I had COVID not too long ago and missed some days at work. Out of consideration to everyone else, even though I'm fine now, I'm masking up for a few days. None of my coworkers and clients wear masks.
The days with the mask on are a total slog. Clients subconsciously don't open themselves up in conversations to you nearly as much. Many don't want to talk and as a result, it's almost impossible to cross-sell anything. Your regulars don't recognize you and if they do, they look at you with an air of disgust and say "are you sick?? Ewwww". God forbid if you have to help a ruddy, middle-aged white client with a PUNISHER sticker on their lifted truck. They won't stop making comments about the mask, about Biden, etc. They'll view you, a facemask-wearing banker in the city, as some quintessential representation of everything they hate and treat you accordingly.
If everyone was masked up I'd feel fine doing it, but as of now I'm just scaring away all the UPs and they're going straight to my co-workers' booths instead. I'm resenting having to wear the mask for the next few days TBH
