Asked to make an exception to a rule after being told that we will get fined for this.
Post Body

I was working late in the box office, and this big family comes up (like, 10~12 people, which we normally get a max of four per group during the day), wanting to go see and R rated film. One of the couples had a daughter, who was under age to be allowed into the movie. Before I swiped the first card, I asked the woman paying if the daughter was going into the film, then asked how old she was. They told me her age, and I told them that she wouldn't be allowed in due to our "children under 6" rule.

This woman demands to see a manager, whom I get. The manager comes out and tells the woman that the theater will get fined and she personally will get fined if this child goes into the film. The woman then asks for the manager to make an exception. "Oh, half the family drove two hours and the other half drove three hours so we could meet here and watch the movie together." Nope. Doesn't matter, we still have rules.

I still sold them the tickets to see the film, since the daughter seemed to have disappeared and no one bought a child's ticket for the film, but as I'm ringing up the first lady, she goes

"She (indicating the manager) can't make an exception, is there anyone in the building that can?"

Nope. We will still get fined.

One of the women then asked who the leading manager (I can't remember how she put it) was on duty that night, which I didn't know (I don't think our theater has anything like that, unless the GM is on duty). I told her she could contact the general manager of the theater, and told her his business card was on the customer service desk, and she waved her hand as if to say "nope, not doing that."

Anyone else have issues like this? Or just issues with parents and R rated films in general?
