Thank God this ignorant statement has only happened once in the 3 years that i've been working at Pizza Hut. So this happened when I delivered to the clerk of an Extended Stay hotel (I think that's the name).
and she literally told me, that the delivery charge was my tip..
I really would have liked to have been aware that on the box of the pizza itself it clearly states "Delivery charge is not a tip," or I would have pointed it straight out to her, and then walked away...
for those who don't know, out of a $2.50 delivery charge, we only get $1.00 out of it to cover gas expense, this is particularly why a delivery charge "IS NOT A TIP."
the more you know!
