Lmao yes we do this every time a customer asks for everything on the side. We go out of our way to separate everything we can possibly think of. For instance, a customer ordered a BBQ chicken sandwich from our menu and asked for everything on the side. So we obliged her. We started by cooking a plain chicken breast, placing the sauce and the grill seasoning in a small portion cup to be plated alongside the cheese and the toasted brioche bun, which is obscenely large mind you. So along with the bacon lettuce tomato and fried onion straws that we place ever so neatly around the plate, and the plain chicken breast of course, there’s now almost no room for their side on the plate. Incidentally, as directed on the ticket we plated her French fries separately, finishing off the plate with a side of fry seasoning.
I’m not sure if it fulfilled all of their hopes and dreams but who knows, I just enjoy being petty about it and taking it so literally. It makes the job more fun.
