Last Saturday night I'm working night audit at the Triple Nut by Shiton on my task force route.

It's all pretty chill until I'm step out at 130am to vape out front.

That's when I hear an odd sound, a weird semi rhythmic tingle tangling kinda sound for a minute until I spot a big ol' pick up truck cruising the lot. The paper streamers lazily sliding along as they cruise around for a parking spot. Tingle tangling all the way...

After a few more repetitions they ended up in the lot of the bank next door like I did a few hours earlier. And don't worry, the bank is cool about it since half the staff banks there.

I went back inside to wait for them.

When they arrived at check out they were just the sweetest ever!

He was standing tall in his Marine dress uniform and she as resplendent in her gown & flip flops. He's an officer right out of basic and JROTC. She's a veterinarian nurse. They had the energy of freshly poured champagne and the same amount of charm!

Part of me wanted to congratulate him for not marrying a stripper. Most of the newly married Marines I check in are marrying strippers they "met recently".

But instead I said "Mozel Tov" while handing them free cookies and bottled water.

I made their keys, sent them on and kept it moving all night, but then I saw the truck after I clocked out.

It reminded me how sweet, silly, and fun romance can be. For a little while I forgot how alone I am and enjoyed helping two people feel lovingly alive!

I don't think I'll ever have a chance at that happiness and silliness, but damn it's nice knowing it can still happen.
