We had a system outage 2 days ago. When it came back, it reported that we were sold out. I told ownership. Well it turns out the system glitched and we weren’t. After NA, a room showed back up (it wasn't in OOO or anywhere...it was gone gone). Ownership found this out and berated me because I said we sold out and we didn't in reality. Ownership wanted me to email to explain why we weren’t sold out. So, I sent an email saying "prior to the outage, myself and another person on property, looked on two systems, to make sure we were balanced on rooms available, etc. and the outage ended up happening. When the outage resolved, there was no rooms available to sell (assuming someone picked remaining rooms up) and I had informed you all that it was sold out."
I didn't receive a response. Today, my boss told me that ownership wants me to hand write why and what I can do better next time as well as sign it so it will go in my file. So I was being reprimanded for a system outage and apparently have the power to prevent system outages from happening again.
So I told my immediate boss, that I wasn't going to be doing that and went to my email to send in my resignation. While I don't have anything lined up, I have decided to give them until the end of next month, though if I were to find something before then, I'll leave right then and there. I am an adult, the ownership doesn't have the balls to talk directly to me nor do they have the balls to sit down and learn that front desk associates do not have the authority to do make any changes to the actual system. As an adult making bare minimum, I refuse to be treated like a child. One person leaves tomorrow, others are on their way out.
They can't hire anyone, they've been trying for months. I hope the hotel fails truthfully. The annual audit is coming up at some point this year...I'm thinking about reaching out to the audit team and sharing the state of the hotel so they can get the audit moved up sooner rather than later and fail the property.
