On this day at the Catalina Inn our front desk is slamming. I'm dealing with a rush of 10 early departures, and I am on the phone with a gentleman trying to get his reservation sorted out when Mr. Superelite walks up to me. No, he doesn't wait until I am clearly no longer busy. When do they ever?
MSE: I need the wifi password.
Me(I look up and see somebody is trying to talk to me and I didn't hear what they said, put the phone on hold to address the guest): I'm sorry, what?
MSE: I am a superelite member of hotel chain. Give me the Wifi Password
me(confused): The wifi password is your room number and last name.
MSE: I'm not a guest here but I'm a hyper super elite special tier member. I want the wifi passcode
me: so you're not a guest?
MSE: no
me: you didn't stay last night?
MSE: No
Me: you're not staying tomorrow?
MSE: No
me: then I can't give you the wifi passcode, sorry
MSE: I wasn't trying to go through all this, as a superelite tier member I was pretty sure I got Wi-Fi at every Schmilton property.
me: I'm sorry but our amenities are for guests only.
Mr. Superelite is clearly put off. He leaves the desk in the direction of the business center he will not be able to gain entry into because you need a room key to get inside. Later on, I see him sitting in my closed breakfast area on his computer. there's only an hour left of my shift and he's not bothering anyone, so I don't feel like kicking him out. I think his feelings were hurt enough when I told him no. Clearly, he has managed to get his work done on his own. Think I'm gonna go tell Tiny Suites next door their guests are coming over here for Wi-Fi. He must not be Super Elite next door.
