Today at the mid-upscale chain hotel I call work, I received a phone call from the chain's call center. The representative (Rep) introduces himself and lets me know about the call he has on the other line:
Rep: So I have Mr. (name) on the other line (at this point I have the reservation pulled up on my screen) asking if he could get a refund on his parking charge, as he was unaware that he had to pay to park his trailer.
OP: So, I'm looking at his reservation now. Unfortunately, we wouldn't be able to refund the parking. It's clearly posted on our website, not to mention that we verbally explain our parking charges to every guest checking in. Also, he booked on the Employee Rate. So, no, we won't be able to refund the parking.
Rep: Thank you, OP. I'll let Mr. (name) know.
In the past month or so, there have been more instances of employees and their families abusing the special rate. Of course, I've seen more egregious actions from others, but I found this too amusing to not share.
