Hey guys, so I just left a popular chain restaurant from the bar. I got a burger and a rum and coke. Bartender was pretty normal. Not special but very nice.
Anyway I always tip regardless so she brought me the bill and I wanted to pay in cash which i normally don’t do but I digress.
So the bill came out to just under $20 but I didn’t have enough $1s to give $4 to her for a little over 20% tip. So I gave her a $20 and a $10 thinking “okay so i have 2 dollar bills in my wallet and she’ll give me back like a $5 and 4 $1s.
I handed her the bills and she said thank you and basically took the whole thing.
At first I didn’t realize she thought I was tipping her a whole $10. But after sitting like an idiot for a few seconds I was like…okay then..we’ll I made somebody happy today.
Im so used to paying in card and when in cash it’s usually not a matter of needing to figure out change or anything. And I’m so used to waitresses or bartenders asking if we want change I didn’t even consider she might not.
Oh well. Lesson learned and I’m glad to make a workers work day a little happier than normal.
