This happened around 14 years ago, but I still remember it.
To preface, I live in a more rural part of my area. Before there were homes across the street/around from mine, we had more wide open fields surrounding my family’s home. As a result there were more wide open fields for outdoor sports for myself and the neighbors. Unfortunately, one day, things didn’t go as planned and something ( most likely a bullet or pellet) hit and shattered the glass on one of our front doors. As a result, my parents drove to a well known hardware store chain (which shall remain unnamed) to buy replacement glass for the door.
Unfortunately my mom couldn’t find the replacement glass right away, so she kindly asked an employee to help. However, to put it bluntly, this particular employee chose to talk down to and hassle my mom during the transaction for no particular reason, when she kindly asked legitimate questions on the glass and it’s pricing to make sure we got the correct product, and the glass was cut for the door. ( from what I remember, he didn’t want to cut the glass for the door, even though this hardware store offered glass cutting services for doors and it was his job to do so. Also, my mom wasn’t acting like a Karen.)
My father hears the ordeal go on, and begins to get really ticked about how this particular employee is treating my mom, who was just trying to get the glass cut for the door and wanting to not have this huge problem that was slowly unraveling. My dad speaks up, and tells the employee to stop the way he was treating my mom, and eventually scares the living crap out of the guy, that he calls his supervisor over.
The supervisor is livid with my dad, my dad is livid with the employee and the supervisor, and my mom just wants to get the shit done and to go home. By this time, my father is in a heated argument with the supervisor and the employee in question which ends in my father getting banned from the hardware store chain. Needless to say though, we did get the correct glass for our door.
Also, a side note: my father was an all natural bodybuilder for over 40 years. He also works in education, and has a very terrifying voice he uses with students who are being rude in class. So, you can imagine why this guy was terrified...
TL;DR- My father gets banned from a hardware store for calling out an employee who was rude to my mom.
