Recently I posted a complaint to a companyâs corporate Facebook page. As I was waiting for a response, a Facebook group (apparently dedicated to trolling people for posting what they consider to be frivolous complaints) shared my post within their group and started attacking me.
Not only did they insult me within their own group, they also all went to my post on the company Facebook page and posted insulting comments and GIFs meant to belittle me.
In addition, they also threatened to contact my employer and try and get me fired all because they did not agree with the complaint I posted on a corporate Facebook page.
Thankfully by deleting my original post, it also deleted my post from their page and all of their comments.
While they werenât able to do this with me since I deleted my post so quickly, I do know (from looking through other posts in the group) that if your Facebook profile is public they will go to your profile and take screenshots from your profile to post to their group and make further insulting comments.
I reported this to Facebook, but apparently this conduct is acceptable according to their âcommunity standards.â Anyway, I wonât name the group as I donât want to run afoul of any Reddit policies, but just wanted to make you aware that groups of people that have nothing better to do with their lives than to harass people making complaints on company Facebook pages exist.
My advice is to contact companies with which you have a beef on a private basis since Facebook does not feel it necessary to stop this type of behavior.
