Today I was awaiting a prescription for my daughter who needed this medicine urgently. This was from a store that has only 3 letters in its name.
At 5:50, I called to see if it was ready, as I presumed they were going to close at 7. They told me it was ready for pick up, but they close at 6, so if I got there after 6 they couldn’t help me. I said I’ll be there right away.
At 5:58 I pulled up to the drive thru window. The pharm tech greeted me by shouting “we’re closed!” I responded that I had just spoken with her on the phone and reminded her she said I could get the medicine if before 6, which it still was. She responded again “I SAID WERE CLOSED”, then hung up the drive through phone and walked away.
The audacity of this woman was just mind blowing. I get that they are overworked and dealing with jerks all day, but I was not being a jerk; and I came BEFORE official closing time, so I could not accept her answer.
I parked the car and walked in, looking for the manager. He was appalled when he heard what happened, walked me back to the pharmacy counter, instructed the employee to re-open the register, gave her a stern lecture about not closing up early, and then got me the medicine.
It is rare that I speak up for myself. Usually I just tolerate the slew of poor customer service that I’ve experienced lately, but this scenario I simply could not ignore.
As cliche as it sounds, it really is hard to find good help these days.
