So I work in the meat department for a grocery store. Like most meat departments with a service case, we share it with the seafood side. Today I had an older lady come up to the seafood side of our case and here we go.
Me: Hello, Anything catching your eye today?
Lady: Are these wild caught? *points to the Cod*
Me: Yes Ma'am, those are wild caught.
Lady: Are you sure? I know a lot of places are catching fish in the wild and than raising them on a farm.
Me: *eye twitches* Wow, I never heard of that happening, that's interesting.... But these are caught in the wild, and not farm raised.
At this point I am just baffled by the comment. I did not feel like arguing or trying to correct a customer. So I just nod my head and let her inform me of how it all works.
Lady: *Points to tuna* See, product of Vietnam.
She looks up over her glasses with that "I rest my case" face. I didn't feel like explaining country of origin whether the fish was wild or farmed and just let it be. She tells me that she will be getting her seafood from another place in town known specifically just for seafood.
Me: I understand Ma'am, thanks for stopping by.
I hope they don't sell wild farm fish either for her sake.
