There was a woman who worked in the shopping center across the street with her husband. She came in with these coupons that are at minimum 3 months expired. She tried using them and I kept telling her they're all expired. Not only that, she wasn't even nice about it. She wasn't old and she wore clothes that signified she wasn't exactly hurting. This was also not a grocery store or anything where we could just give her the amount because it was a necessary item, or a cheap discount. One day she was holding up my line and kept fussing. I tried throwing the coupons away and she started screaming. "I own a business [named the place] and I don't have time to get out and go shopping! It shouldn't matter if they're expired because I'm busy!" I told her the place is right across the street. Besides, many of our customers own businesses and work 60 hours per week and manage to get here on time.
She actually told me she wanted them back so that she could go to our other locations. I told her, "good luck" and she eventually just paid for her stuff. I told my managers what happened when they asked what she was trying this time, and they just gave me a blank look. Apparently she's famous for this.

See for a customer like that, i'll bend over backwards and perform some retail magic to get their coupons to work. But you can bet if someone act's like the lady in OP's post;i'm gonna be strict as hell. There's no sense in treating us like dog meat and expecting us to roll out the red carpet in return. Kindness will always win the day some way, some how.
