I was working in a food hall at a supermarket this summer and I had this customer come with a big basket of shopping 5 minutes after the store had officially shut. She apologised but asked if she could buy her basket of shopping anyway. I said 'sure' and bleeped through all her shopping and bagged it. It was then she announced she had forgotten her money. We stared at each other, neither of us knowing what to do. She decided to ring her boyfriend who would bring her her purse. After half an hour of waiting and chatting she began to apologise. I told her to stop apologising and said "If anything the longer your boyfriend takes the better." - That day I got to spend 40 minutes chatting and doing nothing helpful instead of stacking shelves. Thank you unorganised customer.
