Post Body

I work at a chain retail store in the US and today this mother and her two children strut up to me and hold out a pair of shorts, looking pretty peeved off. She proceeds to tell me that she had bought them at our store in another location, and they forgot to take the security tag off. This isn't a huge deal, as it's pretty easy for us to remove the tag, but of course, we need to take a look at the receipt. I ask her for it, and she says very aggressively, "NO, I don't have it, I threw it out, this is YOUR fault, YOU need to remove it for me."

I then ask her if she got it emailed to her and she cuts me off and goes, "NO, WHY would I get it emailed, I HATE emailed recepits, this is YOUR fault, you need to apologize." At this point her teen daughter also chimes in and goes, "Yeah, this is your fault, you should apologize."

I try to tell her that we can look her transaction up but we still need the recepit and she goes, aggressively, of course, "I don't HAVE it, I'm CANADIAN, we throw everything out!!!"

I was pretty annoyed at this point and told her to go up to the cash registers so they can deal with her, and she walks off in a hurry. Just when I thought she was done with me, she turns around and says in a very condescneding way, "I just want to say this was NOT an appropriate response to this problem."

So, thanks aggressive Canadian lady, the way you treat retail employees tells me you've never worked 8 hours a day on your feet dealing with customers like you.
