So i work at a retail store and for those of you who have worked retail in a store that isn't 24 hours, you sometimes get customers coming in 15mins before closing for the purpose of, as far as you are concerned, keeping you from going home while they steal your time.
At work, i have to count all the drawers, the deposit for the day, and close out our sales. I was in the process of taking my last drawer back to its register when i caught the eyw of a man looking confused and scratching his stomach. Now I've gotten used to body language and his scratch either meant he was a drug user (we have a few, though it's a nice neighborhood) or he was about to ask something i didn't want to hear and he knew it. I'll name him B.
Me: "hey there sir, can i help you with anything?"
B: "yes, i was sondering if your water was still on sale? The $2.22 one"
Me: "yes, of course! I think we have some in the back!" I smiled.
B: "ok good! Can i have 10 cases?"
Usually I'm pretty good keeping a poker face, but i was having a bad day today and i just couldn't manage it anymore. And by cases of water, he means 24pk bottles of water, which aren't TOO heavy, but I'm one lady at the end of her shift and you'll see.
Me: "Er... yes, i-i think i can do that for you haha. Let me return this drawer and I'll check the back for you!"
All the whike i was thinking "please god no i hope we're out. I can write him a rain check... what if he's donating these though? Ugh i don't care, do not want..." so i heas to the back and usually the particular brand he was looking for is against the wall across from me entering, but they were replaced with something else. I could have stopped there, but i have a nagging need to try my best. So i looked around and when i turned to my right, that's when i saw it: the waters were tu ked away inside a cave surrounded by other brands of water i didn't need. I had to step over boxes and deliver each pk of water onto my cart. I didn't have enough in arms reach, so i had to purposely topple a tower to get to more. It was all irritating. Meanwhile, my cashier was up front waiting for me to return so she could go to the bathroom. But i got him the water and he proceeded to buy some cereal, ponder a moment, buy some more, finish the transaction, and then pur gase 2 more. Customers piling up behind him and i now had 10mins to finish my close out duties. Then when i was finally closing up, my ride was late and my phone was dead. Creepy parking lots are creepy.
Tl;dr: guy asks for ten cases of water 15mins before i close and i still had a list of things to do before closing shop.
