I was working as shift manager on a particularly terrible shift. We were of course understaffed and were more busy than usual. I was doing everything I could to keep up with the customers and orders. We don't take tips but one customer after paying said they used to work in food service and could tell we were struggling and handed me $5, I initially tried to say no being a slight policy follower but they insisted so I took it. Obviously it was not the money that was meaningful but the words of encouragement and someone seeing how hard we were working to get things out quick with limited staff.
