A Total Stranger Thought I Was Her Daughter
Post Body

So this happened somewhere around November but I had it typed out in Google Docs and I thought I'd share.

So, every once in a while we get a customer who just hangs out in our lobby for eight hours. Sometimes they just sleep but sometimes they're a little bit worse than that. This happened on an eight hour shift and I'm pretty sure you guys are smart enough to guess which kind of customer this lady was.

So, I sat in one of the booths before clocking in and this lady was sitting in the booth in front of me, facing in my direction. I was just minding my own business, munching on a small hashbrown when she moved over to the other side of her booth, reached her arm around the divider, and slid a napkin on my table that said "Mickey?" My first thought was some sort of drug deal so I just told this lady no, my name's not Mickey, which by the way I was wearing a name tag. So then I started paying attention to the way this lady was talking. She literally called someone (or just talked to her phone) to tell them to write the numbers 243. So, when it came time to clock in, I was ready to have that two foot barrier between me and any customers. On my way back though, she told me I look exactly like her daughter she hasn't seen in years. At this point, I know she's either on something or a little bit off her rocker so i was starting to get creeped out. Then one of my coworkers clocked in an hour later and said that while she sat out there waiting, the lady kept asking her questions. "Do you know my daughter?" "Do you know who has my daughter?" Now, this lady has been here since we opened at six and it's now nine o'clock. This entire time she keeps getting up, coming to the counter to talk to us, disappearing outside for a few minutes to stand by our doors only to come back in to do the same stuff. To give you an idea of the things she's doing, this lady asked us for phone chargers and to borrow a phone cause hers was dead then ten minutes later stood outside my drive through window talking on the phone. But I'm getting ahead of myself cause that was around noon. So, I went on my break around 9:30 and one of my managers told me to sit on the opposite side of the dining room as this lady so they could all keep an eye on me in case she tries to bother me again. This entire break, I have the lady watching me and trying to get my attention, and my coworkers taking turns watching me from behind the counter. After my break, the store manager put me in drive thru so I could kind of hide in the corner. That's when she started going out the door on the drive thru side to stand on the sidewalk or to lean against the tree on the other side of the parking lot. A few hours pass and it's about 1:30, maybe 2, and I left the drivethrough to grab a chocolate milk out of the little fridge beneath our front counter. I bend over to grab one out and while I'm down there, the lady comes to the counter, reaches across, and places a bus ticket on top of the cooler and said for me to take it in case I ever needย  to get out of town. I was startled cause I hadn't seen her and I was honestly kind of freaked out cause she thought I was her daughter and I was being held captive. There were several minor incidents with her bothering me throughout the day so, after the bus ticket, my boss finally asked her to leave. Honestly, I was shaking a little and may or may not have had tears forming in my eyes. I was seriously freaked out. I mean, I feel bad for the lady cause it's kinda sad when you think about it, but my sympathy was far outweighed by my fear.

So yeah, slightly different from the usual stories on here but just as true.
