Housing in general in Taipei is more expensive than like cities in the region, for the life of me I can’t figure out why. I worked in Taipei 15 years ago, my salary was $4500 USD a month before taxes. A friend of mine who has been at the company for a couple months just shared his salary and it’s the same salary I was getting 15 years ago!
Another friend is an English teacher making $2000 USD a month, he said he’s been on more or less the same salary his entire time there 10 years.
Housing cost keep going up but salaries in Taipei don’t! What gives Taipei?
