Any hints, resources or anecdotes for an aspiring tailor?
Post Body

Hi, everyone. I hope this is an appropriate post for your sub. I'm somewhat short on resources at the moment and was hoping to gain some guidance.

I'm an amateur stylist living in Melbourne, Australia. I have had suits and other items made for me before and have a little insight into design, but more recently I bought a sewing machine in the hope that I could start my journey to making garments professionally. I have little experience but am keen to learn.

The problem I am facing is that there are very few resources in my city for bespoke menswear or really any local garment production at all. I will be going alone for the time being because sewing and garment instruction is prohibitively expensive. My best resource so far has been Youtube.

I have little money, but I am sure that designing and creating clothes is what I want to do with my life, and so I am humbly seeking any guidance, tips, tricks, resources or other advice the community could offer me at the first stage of my journey.

Hope to hear from you all soon.
