How do Filipinos feel about the influx of English words in their language?
Post Body

Iā€™m a Filipino born overseas but can speak Tagalog with some proficiency. One thing Iā€™ve noticed while studying Tagalog is how many English words are in our language. I do have quite a hobby of studying foreign languages and one thing that sticks out to me is how Tagalog is somewhat less ā€œpureā€ than these other languages which all try to use their own terms for things to the best of their ability. For example in France there is the AcadĆ©mie FranƧaise which tries to prevent the dilution of the French language against the influx of English words.

I noticed that when I speak Tagalog I try to limit the amount of English spoken and become somewhat of a language purist because of the other foreign languages Iā€™ve studied. I also find ā€œpureā€ Tagalog a lot more romantic and somewhat musical (pure is in quotation marks because the elimination of Spanish loan words is basically impossible) Is this weird? Do you think the Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino should try to emulate what France and other countries do with their languages? Do you think the encroachment of the English language has diluted and watered down Tagalog which we should attempt to counteract?

Sorry I know this is a little long but Iā€™m curious about peopleā€™s opinions.
