Hi everyone!
tldr: is it worth keeping https://unfortunate-maps.jukejuice.com up or can I just set it up to redirect to the excellent site /u/-Electron- has stood up: https://fortunatemaps.herokuapp.com/ ?
Background
If you aren't familiar with https://maps.jukejuice.com and https://unfortunate-maps.jukejuice.com, they are used by TagPro map makers to create, preview, and share maps.
Current issues
I am having trouble with the current server provider. The code and server have had very little love for several years now. It's honestly amazing that the thing still works :D I haven't been super-involved with TagPro for a while now, but I've always been happy to continue to support it in a small way by keeping unfortunate-maps running.
I'm trying to decide if it is worth it to resolve things with the VPS provider or just cancel the service and take down the current sites, replacing them with a redirect to fortunatemaps. Even cancelling will be non-trivial as the VPS provider is very hard to reach...
Looking for input
So I'm looking for any input on that front:
- no, it is not worth the effort to keep it up now that we have https://fortunatemaps.herokuapp.com/ or
- yes, https://unfortunate-maps.jukejuice.com is still useful and is worth ensuring it continues to run. And if you answer "yes," can you say why?
Thanks!
https://*maps.jukejuice.com have dutifully served the community for a long time. Thank you to everyone involved in its creation.
I think the best solution is forcing you to keep the site up as well as forcing you to come back and join the new TPFG dev team.
