When reporting a player for "working against own team" the mods ask you to provide a clip otherwise they'll be unable to do anything. This makes sense - proof is required to take action. We can't just go off a single person's potentially biased testimony. There's one unfortunate exception here: a mod can ban a player for waot without any replay to justify the ban. There's a recent case where a player was banned for theoretically working against - but the mod took zero replay evidence and multiple people in the game refute the story that the mod posits. The (month long) ban is staying and all appeals have been denied, including an appeal to shorten the ban by any amount. All because a single mod claims to have seen something that may or may not have resulted in a single cap during a 2NF match. I believe change is in order.
TYPE "SIGNED" IF YOU AGREE THAT WE SHOULD REQUIRE REPLAYS FOR ALL WAOT BANS!
Going to reply here as well as under D8's comment:
I'm not the mod who made this ban, and I do agree with the idea that replays should be available. I just modified a really old script that use to record for you when you received a report and changed so that it will record in 5 cases.
- A mod bans someone from the game
- You issue a report
- You attempt to issue a report, but you already have a recent report on that player
- You make a mods call
- You get muted by a mod
- (There won't be a recording on the mod's end during a mute as there's no in game message on their end, and I'm too python illiterate to figure it out. This probably isn't a huge deal as about 75% of the mute are from chat, but about 25% of the time they're from players being afk typing)
This should be available to everyone shortly, but we're going to make sure it doesn't record randomly and incorrectly. I've shared it with Cheezedoodle, and the other mods also have access to it right now. The hope is that mods and community members both use this if they want. It will help make sure that people don't forget to record something when they report a player, and if a mods call happens, they'll hopefully have the replay ready if the mods jump in shortly after and don't see anything firsthand.
This won't replace the Replay Extension as this script just detects the messages in the 5 cases listed above and just clicks record for you, so if a mod isn't on chrome (or Microsoft Edge?) and they're not using the Replay Extension, this won't be able to help.
I think it was suggested in the comp discord shortly after and was brought up again today in the main discord, so thank whoever thought of it first.
