So about recruiting Xapan

In the Snes/Ps1/Sega Saturn versions of LUCT it was better to recruit him in chapter IV cuz then he has the Prox Axe and that was the only way to legitimately get one back then iirc.
But Is there any actual advantageous reason to wait to get him til the second opportunity to do so in the Psp and Reborn versions? Or does it really even matter either way?
