Sony PVM-1953MD horizontal output problem
Post Body

I have a Sony PVM-1953MD - when you switch it on the tube doesn't start up.

I've probed the HOT (horizontal output transistor) and there's no output (should be a 1000v p2p according to the service manual).

The HOT drive does show its turning on and off - here's a picture - it looks ok. This dies somewhere between there and the HOT transformer.

I suspect some diode is blown up and shorting to ground or something like that, but I've had the worst time tracking it down.

Other odd thing - on the flyback output to the neckboard - the 180v rail only reads 115v.

Anyone else run into this problem? I have two sets with the same symptoms :(.
