I'm at a loss and don't know what to do. I'm a happily married 42yo woman residing in the US. Over the last few years, I've noticed my sex drive waning. I've managed to lose close to 90lbs and thought perhaps it was related to that. However, it's gotten worse and worse as time has gone on. As if that's not bad enough, it's become more difficult - nearly impossible - to achieve an orgasm.
A week ago I worked up the courage to talk to my obgyn, which is where this story goes to shit. I inquired about the possibility to be prescribed some testosterone laced cream to be applied to my clitoris. I showed her this product which I had found online during a regular bout of insomnia.
She basically just told me "there's no medical evidence that testosterone helps woman's ability to climax - maybe you could try couples therapy?" She didn't order anything or look into it any further. After all the courage it took to talk to her about it, it made me really sad that she was so dismissive of something really bothering me.
I'm not on any SSRI medications, my relationship with my husband is outstanding, and everything is otherwise going very well. I just can't cum, I no longer feel the urge to have sex, and it's really really distressing :(
Sorry for the long rambly post. I don't know what to do. I don't know where to go. I need some help, but I can't think of the next step.
Bluntly, who do I have to talk to to get a prescription for testosterone cream? How did you do it?
I know this isn't a magic bullet to fix all my woes, but after researching it a bit, it's something I really want to at least try.
Thank you for taking the time to read :)
