I've had a headache for over a week, that doesn't respond to pain medication or migraine medications. Initially I believed it to be a migraine, as I had aura for about 10 minutes before the headache began, which was a common thing in my past when having a migraine.
Background- I had migraines from about age 12 until about age 19. Haven't experienced one since then( about 21 years migrane free)The migraines seemed to stop after my first child. About 7 years ago i had all my teeth extracted and got full upper and lower dentures. Prior to the dentures I experienced bad headaches every morning due to TMJ dysfunction, from an over bite and severe bruxism. I clenched and my jaw popped loudly whenever I opened my mouth.
The dentures resolved the issues with my jaw as sort of a good side affect-no more tmj headaches once my dentures were in. I haven't experienced any headaches at all in about 7 years.
Since getting this aura last week I've had a throbbing headache that nothing seems to help. I've tried all OTC medications and also imitrex and a few other migraine meds they gave me in the iv at urgent care. Nothing has worked to make it go away My temples are sore jaw is super sore but the headache radiates across top of head and temples and down back of head. It's not super painful .but definitely persistent. I'm waiting for a CT scan but am.sort of freaking out thinking it's a bigger health issue, really scaring myself that it's something worse than TMJ again.
Does this sound like a TMJ headache? Anyone else have any of these symptoms and know whether I should be worried? Obviously not asking medical advice just trying to see if anyone else has experienced this.
Thanks :)
