I'm watching season 3 now. I understand that Max has been an idiot and their reaction to him makes sense. However, it kind of seems like they want it both ways. They want open and honest communication with their daughter about Max but they also said they don't ever want to hear about Max. I don't think it's fostering healthy communication and they seem to always be upset with her about not telling the entire truth but I'm not sure how they want her to proceed when she naively loves this guy and also wants to please her parents.
P.S. Chloe'sreaction to prom vs rehab was gross. Saying he wasn't a real drug addict and that his dad thinks he needs rehab because of his mom was pretty immature. Chloe really has some rose-colored glasses when it comes to Max. I feel so much for Max's dad he seems to want to do the right thing for his kid but Max is 18 and there isn't much he can do.
