I no longer drive into tj. Although it was very convenient to drive accross and back while parking at Pepes garage. And the last 2 weeks have confirmed why not driving into tj anymore was such a good decision. I got so much aniexty driver over. The risk vs reward is just not worth it. An uber is around $3-5 one way. I'd prefer paying that and parking fees at San ysidro. Just too much risk of someone putting something in your car while crossing back, an accident or extortion from policia while in zona norte.

A good friend of mine, a veteran, full spanish speaker was pulled over and extored for $200 last week. He played the take me to jail then card. Which he has done for years. They actually did take him to the station this time and time was not on his side(he was in a hurry to cross back) so he ended up paying $200 outside the station.

Yesterday and last week, in the hour I walked around cohohuailoa st and constitution, several cars would get pulled over in front of Chicago by motorcycle and truck policia. All USA plates. One specifically was an American with Oregon plates.

Don't drive, just uber or take the shuttle. Take the walk. Your body with thank you for it and maybe your pockets.
