Unlocking the Bull Ring - THPS2

Hi, so I’m playing through THPS2 for the first time at the moment and I’ve seen that to unlock the Bull Ring you need 60’000 dollars total in career. Does this 60’000 equate to all the money you can earn in the game up to that point? In other words, do you have to complete all the objectives/ collect all the money on every previous level to have enough to unlock the Bull Ring? Just curious because it seems like a lot and at the moment I only have just above 20k
