I'm hearing a lot of horror stories coming out of China from the past several months, but their salaries are still the best (that I've found). Is going there still viable?

I'll be a new teacher btw. I have my bachelor's, TEFL, passport, and just got my background check. I'm just about at the point to start applying to jobs (I think).
I understand all these training/learning centers are closing due to the new restrictions and regulations plus covid stuff. But I still see some job postings and China has always had high salaries.
So is it still worth it for a new teacher to go there?
