TEFL/TESOL required to teach English Online (most likely for a Chinese Company)?
Post Body

Let me start by saying that I am currently living in China. I have a BA in English and have been an ESL teacher since 2014. Next year, however, I will be moving to Spain so that my boyfriend can finish a 1-year MA in Architecture.

As a Southern European woman, I know how much it sucks to work in the Iberian Peninsula - salaries are a laughingstock, everything is expensive, you get the drill. One of my coworkers used to be a online teacher, and he told me it is possible to make a decent amount of money that way - a temporary solution to a temporary problem.

However, most of the companies require TEFL/TESOL certificates... which I don't have. I have already used the search function here on Reddit and YES - I know these websites are all a scam, not accredited, I should take a course in person, CELTA or Trinity if I am in this for the long haul, etc. But I'm not. After my boyfriend finishes his MA, we will be going to the US where I will get a MA myself, then work towards becoming an accredited English teacher in a normal high school.

SO... this brings me to: would a shitty 5$ Groupon course be sufficient for an online teaching job? Anyone here tried that before?
