Iām writing this in regard to my mother. We were in a bad car accident in 2014 and she suffered a severe TBI.. they didnāt think she was going to come out of a coma for 6 months but she ended up coming out after 2 weeks. My question is.. the neurosurgeon told me and my family that severe TBI survivors were more susceptible to getting dementia because the brain continues to deteriorate over the years.. how true is this? Has anyone experienced this or know of someone who has. I noticed my momās memory is iffy lately but thereās noātestā for it and itās hard to diagnose with TBIs..
