Behave
Post Body

I am disappointed that I have to step in and calm things down again. I need EVERYONE to behave. I'm not here to blame anyone. We have a vibrant (and growing) community. We also have hardworking moderators. We are all heavily invested in seeing this subreddit thrive. It will not thrive if the behavior of the past few days continues.

I have unbanned a number of users and provided some internal coaching for my mod team. Let me be clear though - some unbanned users deserved their bans (especially those that excessively cursed the mods). But I like to err on the side of amnesty. As fair warning and to prevent any further ambiguity, I'm going to lay out the laws of the subreddit:

PERMITTED

  1. Memes
  2. Articles from non-propaganda sources (propaganda sources: RT, Sputnik, SANA, MintPress, Fars, InfoWars, etc)
  3. Original content and opinions
  4. Posts that cheer for the opposition and their allies (e.g. Turkey)
  5. Posts that cheer for the defeat of Assad forces and their allies, including Russians, Iranians, Hezbollah, and the PKK/YPG/SDF
  6. Posts that share military news, drone videos, and on-the-ground videos

NOT PERMITTED

  1. Recruitment/material support for a terrorist organization. Penalty: Class A.
  2. Spam (e.g., "miracle herb to make your pickle bigger"). Penalty: Class A.
  3. Racism and sectarianism. Penalty: Class B
  4. Attacking a moderator. Penalty: Class B
  5. Assadism (cheering for Assad, cheering for the defeat of the opposition, or posting propaganda content). Penalty: Class B
  6. Excessive use of swear words. Penalty: Class C
  7. Cheering for death or posting extremely graphic content. Penalty: Class C
  8. Promoting other subreddits. Penalty: Class C

Penalties...

Class A: Moderators should delete the violating content and immediately ban the violator (temporary or permanent at the moderator's discretion).

Class B: Moderators should delete the violating content, warn the violator for the initial violation, and warn (preferred) or ban the violating user between 1 - 7 days for further Class B violations depending on severity. If the user commits another Class B violation after the first ban and, in the moderator's belief, the violation is extreme/outrageous and the violator cannot be rehabilitated, the moderator may permanently ban the violating user.

Class C: Moderator may, in his/her discretion, permit or delete the violating content. If the content was deleted, the moderator should offer the user an explanation (public or private) why he/she believed deletion was appropriate. However, Class C offenses do not warrant a ban.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Edited for clarity.
