Hi, All:
I am relocating to Syracuse and curious about people with actual experience living in the southern neighborhoods of the city. I’ve rented a house (a short lease to start so I can relocate if necessary) at the Northern/Southern Valley border. It’s on a quiet cul de sac with a history of longer term tenants. I’ve google street viewed the neighborhood and while there are some sketchy looking places 4-5 blocks away, the actual immediate neighborhood looks quite decent. It’s close to Gannons ice cream which I understand is a local staple and a place that is packed in the summer.
I’ve spent time in major cities and generally feel like I lived in places at least as sketchy but these reddit threads make it seem like the end of the world.
Sorta wondering what I am getting myself into but am especially curious to hear from folks with experience living here.
I understand that there are lots of forums dedicated to neighborhoods here but forums talking about the Valley seem to be cursory or very dated.
