i have very intense, continuous synesthesia(concept shape, color, texture). it’s not entirely benign as it is for most people, and one side effect is that it can cause me to mix up right and left. it’s confusing to explain, but when i try to decide if something is right or left, sometimes i’ll see an image of a lavender spot in my mind. if the object is to my right, the spot will be on the left of my mind, but i’ll think “your right,” as if the image is someone else’s right, like in a photo. this causes my brain to get confused. it can make driving scary if i suddenly can’t be sure i’m on the right or left even though i “know” i’m on the right logically.
