Throwaway account.
My wife had been browsing Marketplace and found a listing for a teak ice bucket for sale.
She contacted the seller and a price was agreed upon, she told him she would not be able to pick it up for a week or so to which he agreed, he runs a small antique shop and said she could come by any time during business hours to pick it up.
A week later she made the drive about about 45 minutes from where we live to pick up the Ice Bucket.
She chatted with the owner as she browsed the store, picking up a couple vinyl records as well.
On her way out she glanced to the side and stopped dead in her tracks.
Sitting by the entrance was a rusty tin Sign from the now defunct "Beaver Lumber" with my father's full name painted on it!
We have a unique family name,
She was shocked and asked the owner where he got it from, he explained he bought it from a barn sale about an hour from there,
Well of course she had to buy it!
My best guess is the sign is from a Greenhouse purchased for the family farm in 1960, before I was born.
I believe the greenhouse would have been Pre Fab at their yard with the sign designating who purchased it with a chalk board finish on it for possibly delivery date? or any manufacturing notes.
The thing is, we NEVER had the sign, it may have been left on the truck from Beaver Lumber or left in their yard in Winnipeg,
Adding to the coincidence, it was 7 years ago that week that my father passed away, and just a few days before my birthday.
So now, after laying around since 1960, the sign has finally made it's way back to the family and now sits in my living room
