So, the when hex 1st told me about the server, i was excited, working on an RPG server was something i was thinking about for a long time (a year and a half, to be exact), and doing it with you guys would just be amazing. So, i agreed to join the team, and started working on the world map. But as time went on i got frustrated because we had no idea about what the server should be about, and about you people constantly avoiding it while talking about everything else instead. So, with that over, here's my idea for the server:

You spawn as a level 1 of some class in your capital, and begin your journey by doing some tutorial quests to introduce you to the server. After that, you head of into the wilderness of your own continent, loosely following a storyline which guides you through the world. When i say it loosely following a storyline, i mean that it kind of shows you the main areas of the the region you're currently in, and leaves you to then go on your marry way exploring, grinding generic quests, farming professions or whatever else you may want to focus on. All of the listed would reward you with XP, as well as different kinds of loot (you may find rare objects and materials while exploring, get metals and other resources while farming etc.). At some not too high level you could gain the ability to travel to other continents, with different, but not necessary better loot.

The idea is that players would have incentive to focus on one of the few ways of leveling, specialize their character for that, and then trade with other players for goods (an explorer may trade some rare material he found and some money with a crafter for an excaliburn), leading to player interaction and hopefully more RP. And while on the topic of RP, why not still include plots, but have players choose from pre-built houses? So you could buy a plot with a blacksmith, one with an inn or just a regular house.

There's loads more ideas i have, some of which would make other ideas make more sense, but i'll stop myself here because otherwise this will turn into a 20 paragraph wall of text. And i need to go to sleep as well, been writing this up for way too long

Edit: Something i forgot to mention is that i really want to give players lots of places to explore, from huge landmarks, to hidden chambers hidden so only the most dedicated explorers would find them.

And as a last note: whatever we go with, i doubt our current map idea will work out, it really can't be tied together, right now most of the areas simply don't give options for anything cool to be built. The map may be huge, but a big part of it is ocean, and making big landmarks right next to the ocean doesn't really make much sense in my mind.
