It was mentioned during their last reddit AMA that they were thinking about possibly trying to turn Symmetra back to a support after trying internally to turn her into a healer earlier.

As a day one Symmetra main, I poured triple digit hours into Symmetra up until Symmetra 3.0. I personally know many Symmetra players that just left the game when the developers turned her into a DPS hero and there are many still that play the game that long for the days of Symm 2.0 again. I would definitely would love if Symmetra turned into an off-healer/utility character for OW2.

I know that there are still some die-hard Symmetra 3.0 fans out there, but there are still many Symm mains that would return to the character if Symmetra turned back to the category she belongs in!

Since the devs are still on the fence with Symmetra, maybe with enough support, Blizzard can work towards reworking Symmetra to be a support hero again!
