Hi all, I remember a few years ago there was an article or discussion about the City Circle needing serious upgrades and maintenance due to its age. The discussion was how would you shut down the City Circle due to the network design making it an integral link.
With the uptake on the new M1 metro last week, reduced passengers at Town Hall and Wynyard due to metro (I am one of them), is it possible to finally do the maintenance for the City Circle?
Just from a customer perspective I can't see why trains wouldn't terminate at Central, and North Sydney with commuters directed to change to Metro as both stations have cross over points. It obviously would be a logistical nightmare to swap trains quickly to vacate platforms.
Or would they wait for Metro West from Parramatta to Hunter Street in 2032 so the T1 and T2 have reduced numbers?
